Shawn R. Loring
Associate
Shawn Loring is an associate attorney with Friedemann Goldberg Wargo Hess LLP. His practice focuses primarily on estate planning, business planning and succession, and real estate. Shawn draws upon his 25+ year career as financial planner to augment his legal practice of helping families create, growth, and pass assets through instruments such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney, and advanced health care directives. Over his career, he has completed approximately 1000 estate plans.
His experience as the former CEO and attorney of a national organization, with 36,000+ active member families, informs his advice to owners of family businesses. Shawn has assisted with the formation of many businesses and non-profit organizations.
Shawn received a Bachelor of Science in international economics, with an emphasis on Asia, from UCLA, where he was on the Dean’s List. He studied Mandarin Chinese at the Beijing Language and Culture University. Shawn received his law degree from Southwestern Law School, where he was on the Dean’s List, and was awarded commendations for his study of Estate and Gift Taxation and Estate Planning. Shawn is currently licensed to practice law in California and in Texas. In addition, he is a graduate of the National Association of Trial Advocacy (NITA) Deposition and Trial Skills program.
Shawn is the former host of Your Money Matters on 96.1 KDOL radio. He is a founder and former Board President of Polk County Recycling and Beautification, a founder of the Spirit Ride (an annual cycling event supporting local charities), and the former Board Vice President of Escapees Care (a non-profit adult day care and assisted-living facility). He is also an Eagle Scout and a lifelong outdoor enthusiast. Shawn’s interests include hiking, cycling, cooking, baking (the perfect sourdough bread), and with his wife exploring the natural beauty of Sonoma County.
